The Los Angeles Chargers have a big decision ahead of them this coming offseason, with vacancies at both their head coaching and their general manager positions. And it seems like Chargers president John Spanos is taking the task of finding the right people for these jobs very seriously.

There have been many seasons recently where the Chargers looked like a great team on paper, but consistently found a way to underperform.

A number of different factors have gone into this. But a large majority of fans have been critical of the Chargers’ ownership and their reluctance to pay up for the right head coach to successfully get this team to play to its potential.

Spanos seems to acknowledge this criticism, and he presumably doesn’t plan to make the same mistake again. While speaking to the media for the first time since the firings, he detailed that there will be “no limitation” in their search for a new head coach and general manager.

“When I looked at these last two hires, we did some good things,” Spanos said via ESPN’s Kris Rhim. “We didn’t get where we ultimately wanted to go, but I know that we’re all going to learn from it, and we’re going to do even better the next time. The commitment to winning and the commitment to do whatever it takes to get there is as strong as it’s ever been and really will not waiver.

“Everything starts with ownership, so I think ultimately we’re responsible for everything. I’m not going to limit the search in any way.”

It’s obviously great to hear this from Spanos. But as the saying goes, actions speak louder than words. And Chargers fans aren’t exactly buying these comments just yet.
