The Kansas City Chiefs made a huge move in free agency on Monday. It was reported that the Chiefs signed former Jacksonville Jaguars tackle Jawaan Taylor.

The Chiefs reportedly signed Taylor to a four-year $80 million contract, with $60 million of it guaranteed.

Taylor comes to Kansas City from the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars spent a second-round pick on Taylor in the 2019 NFL Draft. Since then he has played right tackle and hadn’t missed a snap for the team since he entered the league. So he brings durability and reliability to the table. Taylor will be tasked with protecting Patrick Mahomes and keeping the two-time NFL MVP upright.

The Chiefs decided to move on from veteran left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. as a result of the signing. Brown becomes a free agent now and likely will have a line of teams pursuing him.

Now, the question is what are the Jaguars’ next moves? Part of the success that Trevor Lawrence had last year was because of the protection he received from his offensive line. So now they’ll need a replacement.

Jaguars fans better hope their team is not afraid to spend a few dollars in free agency or the draft to replace Taylor.

It will be interesting to follow this development in the coming weeks.
