Monday Night Football made two huge announcements Monday. First, because of the writer’s strike, all the games will be on ABC for the rest of the season and not on ESPN.
The second thing they announced is Grammy Award winner Chris Stapleton will now do the opening theme for the show. Fans got a taste of what they will see Monday night.
Stapleton along with Snoop Dogg will perform the Phil Collins classic “In the Air Tonight”. The song became popular because of the NBC show “Miami Vice” back in the 1980s.
Current and former NFL players say this song does pump you up before the game.
“It was fascinating to me to see how one song could get you in that mode to go out there and just kick some tail,” said Hines Ward.
Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin added, “I don’t care if you are the home team, the away team, you are hearing that song no matter what (before the game).”
Some fans were excited that the broadcast would be adding the “Tennessee Whiskey” singer to the broadcast.
I'm so glad I saw this! I wonder who is the creative genius that put all of them together. An unlikely group of people featured a brand-new anthem. This is going to be fire!

Anything with Chris Stapleton is a win!

Some fans, however, didn’t think remaking the song was a good idea and should have just used the Phil Collins original.
Why couldn’t they just use the original?!

This is awful for a few different reasons.

Just use Phil Collins?! The song didn’t need all that
