Cincinnati Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow and his No. 1 receiving option Ja’Marr Chase have had a terrific connection that dates back to their college football days at LSU. Burrow suffered a concerning injury at practice on Thursday, but Chase believes he will be alright thanks to a gesture that the two always share.

Unfortunately, Burrow was carted off the field after a scary-looking injury in Thursday’s practice, which is obviously the last thing the Bengals were hoping to see ahead of the upcoming 2023-24 season.

Caleb Noe of WCPO News in Cincinnati shared the video of both Burrow suffering the injury and later being taken off the field on a cart, and it certainly did not look good.

During a press conference following practice, Chase was asked about the injury, where he revealed that Burrow gave him a nod that suggested that he would be okay.

“We always give each other that nod,” Chase said via The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr. “He gave me a nod [to say] he’s all right. He’s a strong dude.

We still don’t have an official diagnosis of Burrow’s injury. However, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor narrowed things down with an update on his star quarterback after practice, confirming it was a calf injury.

Burrow and Chase have one of the strongest connections of any QB-WR tandem in the league, which has led to both being considered among the best at their respective positions. And this non-verbal message between the two at least makes it seem like Burrow may have avoided any serious injury.
