There are only two weeks left before the 2022 NFL regular season and it seems like the Miami Dolphins have their eyes set on bringing in a two-time Super Bowl champion to shore up their defense for the upcoming season.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Miami is working out former New England Patriots linebacker Trey Flowers on Wednesday.

Flowers was once a key piece of the Patriots defense, but has seen his NFL career take an unfortunate turn as of late. He was released by the Detroit Lions after previously signing a massive five-year $90 million deal with Detroit in 2019. A big part of his failures in Detroit was because of injuries, only starting 12 games combined in the last two season for the organization.

Miami has been a middle-of-the-pack defense over the past few seasons, and a player like Flowers, who played a part in a championship team in New England, could make a huge impact.

The Dolphins have made big strides this offseason to become a contender in the AFC East, bringing in former Kansas City Chiefs star wide receiver Tyreek Hill as a top receiving option for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

This will be a crucial year for Tagovailoa to prove that he can be the franchise quarterback in Miami, and bringing in Flowers could help Miami have an impressive defense next season. That is, if he can play up to the capabilities that he has shown throughout his career.
