The San Francisco 49ers shared some good news Friday, announcing that tight end George Kittle will be available Sunday night against the Denver Broncos.
Kittle missed the first two games of the season due to a groin injury. Head coach Kyle Shanahan talked about Kittle’s return to the team during a recent appearance on KNBR.
GM John Lynch said on @knbr that #49ers TE George Kittle has put together two good practices. He’s on pace to play Sunday night. (Kittle, not Lynch.)

“He’s good to go. I thought he got better each day,” Lynch said. “He means a ton in both [the run game and the pass game]. Kittle’s been one of our better players here over the years. When he’s out there, he’s a huge deal for us. We’ve got to get him back into football shape and stuff because he hasn’t played in a little bit. But he helps us in every facet we do.”
Kittle was one of Jimmy Garoppolo‘s favorite targets last season. He caught 71 passes for 910 yards with six touchdowns in the regular season.
After the injury to Trey Lance last week in their victory over the Seattle Seahawks, the 49ers couldn’t afford to lose another key player to their offense. Having Kittle being back in the offense to help Jimmy G can be nothing but good as San Francisco begins the Garoppolo Era…again.
