After Saturday's blowout loss to the Eagles, the Giants drew unfortunate -- and stunningly accurate -- comparisons to TCU. Did the New York Giants really belong in the playoffs? They had their critics. But the win over the Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card round seemed to at least dispel the notion that New York didn’t belong. Then came the second round and if those doubts were assuaged after the win against the Vikings, they came back in force after Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. If that doesn’t sound familiar to you, let us jog your memory.

TCU had plenty of doubters about whether they belonged in the College Football Playoff. Beating Michigan in the Fiesta Bowl, though, seemed to silence those doubters. Then came the National Championship Game against Georgia and those doubts came back. The Horned Frogs could not compete with the Bulldogs.

Similarly, while the mismatch wasn’t quite as great, the Giants could not compete with the Eagles. Philadelphia dominated the game throughout scoring touchdowns on its first two possessions and on four of its five possessions in the first half (excluding a kneel down in the final seconds). The Eagles opened up a 28-0 lead and cruised to a 38-7 win.

The comparison was one that several football fans made during Saturday’s beatdown.

For the Giants, much like TCU, the key will be to learn from the mistakes and identify, shortcomings in the loss came from and fix those issues.
