Veteran left tackle Jason Peters has done it all when it comes to the NFL, making nine Pro Bowl appearances along with earning two first-team All-Pro nods. He also won a Super Bowl championship with the Philadelphia Eagles in February 2019’s Super Bowl LII. And now, it looks like Peters may continue his lengthy 17-year career with an Eagles’ division rival.

Peters started his career with the Buffalo Bills, signing with them as an undrafted free agent out of Arkansas and  playing for them from 2004-08. He then went to the Eagles, where he played from 2009-20. In 2021, he signed a one-year free agent contract with the Chicago Bears, and started 15 of 17 games for them. Many thought he may decide to retire following that considering he is 40 years of age, but it appears that Peters may be headed to an Eagles’ NFC East rival for his 18th NFL season.

According to ESPN reporter Todd Archer, Peters is scheduled to visit with the Dallas Cowboys, and could fill their starting left tackle position for the upcoming season.

This comes after a significant injury last month to starting left tackle Tyron Smith, who isn’t expected to return for the Cowboys until at least the back half of the season.

There is clearly a need for the Cowboys at the left tackle position. And many around the NFL world are potentially excited to see a longtime veteran such as Peters potentially joining the team.

Peters played the 2021-22 season with the Bears (he’s seen above with them last August), playing serviceably for the team despite their struggles as a unit on the offensive line.

He showed that he is still a very reliable option, starting 15 out of 17 games for the team last season while showing off the top PFF (Pro Football Focus) grade on the Bears’ offensive line last year.

Peters is clearly not the player that he once was in his prime with the Eagles. But he it certainly seems like he could thrive as a serviceable piece for the Cowboys until Tyron Smith is ready to go for them later in the year.
