It’s no secret that the Las Vegas Raiders have struggled offensively.

Josh McDaniels’ team has been up against it on that side of the football, whether Jimmy Garoppolo has been in the starting lineup or not. In his first season with the Raiders, the 31-year-old Garoppolo has completed 100-of-147 pass attempts (68 percent) for 1,079 yards with seven touchdowns against eight interceptions.

The Raiders currently rank 27th in yards per game (284.1), 32nd in rushing yards per game (68.6), tied for 27th in total points scored (112), and 30th in points per game (16.0).

They are not exactly lighting the world on fire, and yet they are 3-4, which is good enough for second place in the AFC West. At the same time, something has to give, as we’ve already seen the likes of Davante Adams complain about his current role in the team’s offense.

Speaking with reporters this week, Garoppolo, who the Raiders are “hopeful” will start on Monday night against Detroit, was candid about the team’s lack of offensive success.

“It’s a process, you have to assess different things, players have to play better, coaches have to coach better,” Garoppolo said, via SB Nation’s Silver and Black Pride. “I mean, it’s all of us. So, it’s just we’re in it together. We have a good group of guys in there, a tight-knit group. Guys came to work today and came with the right mindset; it was pretty cool.”

The right mindset will only get the Raiders so far. But Garoppolo back under center against a 5-2 Lions team that is coming off a 38-6 loss to the Ravens, will be a major boost for Las Vegas’ offense.
