As the NFL world waits to see what the Chicago Bears plan to do with the first overall pick in the 2024 Draft, quarterback Justin Fields made his position clear this week.

Fields, who appeared on the St. Brown Bros Podcast Wednesday, wants to stay in Chicago. He also knows, though, that it’s a business.

“Of course. Of course I want to stay,” Fields said.  “I can’t see myself playing in another place, but I know how the league is. If it was up to me I would stay in Chicago. I love the city. The city’s lit. The fans there, they’re great. But it’s a business. I ain’t got no control over it, so whatever happens happens.”

The Bears selected Fields with the 11th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and the former Ohio State Buckeye has had an inconsistent professional career.

Injuries, inconsistent play, and the organization’s failure to build a talented roster or coaching staff around him have marred Fields’ development in Chicago. In his three seasons with the Bears, Fields has appeared 40 games, throwing 40 touchdown passes to 30 interceptions. The dual-threat quarterback has also added an additional 14 rushing touchdowns, eight of which came in the 2022 season which saw Fields rush for 1,143 yards, making him just the third quarterback in NFL history (Michael Vick, Lamar Jackson x2) to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season.
