Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

Even though Kenny Pickett returned as a starter for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, he did not perform well enough to guarantee that he will remain the starting quarterback for the team next season, especially after the team opted to have Mason Rudolph start in his place down the stretch and into the playoffs. As a result, it sounds like the team is going to add another quarterback to the mix this offseason, and that quarterback could be Justin Fields.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Monday, NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN suggested that the Steelers could be in the mix to trade for current Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields.

“We know that Pittsburgh is going to go out and get some type of quarterback whether that’s Ryan Tannehill, whether that’s Russell Wilson, whether that’s Justin Fields,” Schefter said. “Mike Tomlin is a big fan of Justin Fields. We’ll keep that in mind during the offseason in the coming weeks.”

Schefter did not guarantee that the Steelers would choose to pursue Fields over the other quarterbacks who could be available, but he certainly indicated it was an option worth keeping an eye on, and that led to a lot of reactions on social media.

We’ll certainly have to see whether or not Fields ends up in Pittsburgh.
