It’s been quite a wild offseason for New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones after it was reported that head coach Bill Belichick has shopped the quarterback to other teams around the league. And new offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien isn’t really adding much clarity to the situation, either.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Bill O’Brien was asked about Mac Jones but did not provide much of an update, according to Pro Football Talk.

“When asked specifically about quarterback Mac Jones, O’Brien said they’ve just started working together and it would be crazy for him to pretend he knows what the offense is going to look like this season. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has declined to say even that Jones will be the starter over Bailey Zappe this year, although Jones has started every game he’s been healthy for in his two years in New England,” Michael David Smith wrote for Pro Football Talk on Tuesday.

While it’s fair for O’Brien to not issue a firm public comment on Jones given the situation, it sure doesn’t add any clarity to the situation.

We’ll have to see how the New England Patriots quarterback situation takes shape and whether or not Jones is the team’s starting quarterback next season.
