The New York Giants may have signed starting quarterback Daniel Jones to a long-term contract extension just last offseason, but that does not seem to be stopping the team from exploring other options at the quarterback position this offseason.

The Giants already brought in another veteran quarterback with starting experience this offseason when they signed Drew Lock, but it sounds like the team is considering selecting a quarterback with their first-round pick, too.

According to a report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, the Giants have actually already met with Michigan Wolverines quarterback J.J. McCarthy as they decide who to select with the No. 6 overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.

“Sources to @BleacherReport: Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy visited the #Giants last week, which included dinner with the front office and a tour of the facility,” Schultz said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Obviously, this is pretty big news regarding the team’s draft plans, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it.

McCarthy is expected to be the fourth quarterback off the board behind Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels. We’ll have to see if he’s still on the board when the Giants pick at No. 6 – and whether or not the Giants take him.
