Pittsburgh men’s basketball and its fans showed love to Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin on Tuesday night.

Pitt, Hamlin’s alma mater, provided a message on the Petersen Events Center jumbotron during their game vs. Virginia. The message, courtesy of Pitt Athletics, read,

Damar, we love you. We are praying for you. Pittsburgh’s always had your back. And now it’s obvious the entire country has your back, too.”

The basketball team and the student section also showed love to Hamlin. The men’s basketball Twitter account changed its header picture to a photo of Hamlin while he was a Pitt Panther. Several students also created signs to offer love to him. “The Zoo Loves You Damar,” one student wrote on their sign. “Prayers For Damar,” wrote another student.

During Monday Night Football, Hamlin, a safety for the Buffalo Bills, went into cardiac arrest following a hit in the open field. Hamlin collapsed and received medical attention immediately, including CPR. He was taken to the University of Cincinnati Hospital, where as of writing, he remains.

Hamlin’s uncle provided an encouraging update about his nephew earlier Tuesday night. He said Hamlin’s oxygen levels were improving, but that Hamlin remained on a ventilator. His uncle also said Hamlin remained sedated at this point, and that the main focuses are recovering to breathe and the health of Hamlin’s lungs.

An outpouring of donations has come out for Hamlin after his injury. If you’d like to donate or share the Damar Hamlin GoFundMe for his toy drive, visit it here. Over $5 million has been donated.
