On Monday night, J.R. Smith, like millions of other Americans, was watching football. And like many other Jets-Bills viewers, the Cleveland Cavaliers guard had an observation about a certain All-Pro cornerback.

So, you know, Smith tweeted something out.

Whew, that’s harsh, but he did say #justsaying…

The next day, Revis saw Smith’s tweet, and he was not amused, sparking some back-and-former between the two athletes.

Revis really went for the low-road there, pointing out that Smith is not as good at basketball as he is at football, which has to cut deep. Smith, to his credit, responded graciously, though it’s hard to take seriously the idea that he’s tired of people saying Revis is losing it… right after saying Revis is losing it.

Here, Smith probably should have just left things alone. Instead, he got a liiiiittle bit preachy.

Revis, a massively successful player who likely does not need anyone to tell him how to self-motivate, did not find Smith’s “pro-to-pro” advice compelling.

Despite some banter with his followers, J.R. seems to be done responding to Revis. He did throw up some subtweets, though. It’s not entirely clear if Smith is hating on Revis or his followers or who, but both of these tweets are Jay Z lyrics, the former coming from the dis track “Takeover.”

Hopefully these guys can hug it out.
