Herschel Walker

A video of the1988 NFL’s Fastest Man competition went viral on Friday. And that led to many hilarious Herschel Walker jokes.

Walker, once a football star at Georgia and in the NFL, became a Republican politician in the state of Georgia. He lost the November Senate runoff election to Democratic candidate, the Reverend Raphael Warnock, in a race that turned into a rout.

Walker has not been free from jokes or heavy criticism. That continued Friday after video from Walker’s days as an NFL star was unearthed.

Ryan Fowler tweeted a video of the 1988 NFL Fastest Man competition. The video, which went viral, included Walker as well as NFL greats Darrell Green and Rod Woodson. It also included former track star and Super Bowl Champion Willie Gault.

The end result of the video? A bevy of hysterical Herschel Walker jokes.

Jay Jurden noted the similarities from current events. Jurden tweeted, “Another race Herschel lost.”

The jokes then continued. Randall Barnes tweeted, “Herschel Walker has been losing races for years”

The jokes continued, as did the similarities between the race and the Senate runoff. Deadspin writer Eric Blum tweeted, “Losing another runoff to a guy already in Washington.”

Naturally, the similarities were just too good for some like @Rraymos.

There is seemingly nothing Walker can do to avoid being joked on. That includes even when footage of his NFL past gets unearthed.
