Lionel Messi doesn’t have much left to prove on the pitch. And yet, the Argentinan superstar, who is widely regarded by soccer fans as one of the most iconic names in the sport, continues to defy logic.

Messi, who recently announced his intentions to come to the United States and play for Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami CF, was at it again for his national team on Thursday. It’s been nearly six months since Messi led Argentina to a World Cup victory over France in Qatar. And while he made history then, he also made history Thursday.

During Argentina’s friendly against Australia in Beijing, Messi scored from the edge of the box to give his country a 1-0 lead.

Messi’s goal came just 79 seconds into the match, which is the quickest of his professional career. With that goal, Messi has now scored in every minute of regulation at some point in his career, except for the first minute. That’s just an absurd statistic, but it’s unsurprising when considering the source. He’s arguably the greatest footballer of all time.

And he again continued to prove why later in Thursday’s match. Messi was at his very best, evading defenders and dribbling around them like it was nothing.

It’s only a matter of time before the Lionel Messi experience reaches the United States.
