With just a few matches remaining in the season, Liverpool entered today outside the top four of the EPL table, and therefore outside of the Champions League places.

Still, they have a few things going for them, namely their remaining schedule. With matches remaining against Crystal Palace, Burnley, and today against West Brom, it looked like chasing down Chelsea or Leicester wasn’t impossible, especially as those two teams still have to play each other. (Leicester also has Tottenham to close the season.)

Take care of business against soon-to-be-relegated West Brom and Liverpool would be in good shape to avoid the Europa League. You still have to play the games, though, and through 94 minutes West Brom looked like they were very prepared to steal a point at home.

But when Liverpool was awarded a corner in the very dying moments of stoppage time, it led to one of the more exciting moments in sports: a goalkeeper heading to the other end of the pitch to participate on offense and attempt to overload the opponent. Even better, it led to this:

That’s just absurd on every level, not least because of the finish itself. Alisson redirects the ball perfectly into the far side netting; any striker in the world would have been thrilled with that. It was a first for Liverpool, too:

What a goal, and what a time to do it. The win means that with two matches left, Liverpool is just one point behind Chelsea and three points behind Leicester, with the most favorable remaining schedule of the three.

Of course, as we saw today, any team can threaten to draw or beat any other. Regardless, we should be in for a wild end to the EPL season.
