Game 7 between the Charlotte Hornets and the Miami Heat was a microcosm for the entire first round of the NBA playoffs. Even in a series that was back and forth, the games themselves were not that competitive. The Heat were the superior team from the opening tip, and sent the Hornets home on a 106-73 beatdown.
Although the game itself was hardly competitive, there was still an interesting moment late in the fourth quarter when a young fan wandered onto the court with the hopes of meeting Heat rookie forward Justice Winslow.

The game was pretty much over by the third quarter, so you can see where this kid might think the game was actually finished. By the looks of the empty arena, most of the other Miami fans had already come to a similar conclusion.
In all seriousness, Jeff Van Gundy’s outrage was both predictable and on point. Parents, do not let your children wander on to the court in the middle of an NBA game. Luckily, this happened during a dead ball and the referee could quickly shuffle the child off the court, but someone could have been seriously injured had this been in the middle of play.
As this child and his family are about to find out, the consequences of invading the field of play do not necessarily stop with the act itself either.
The boy who ran on the AA Arena court and hugged Winslow's leg in the 4th quarter was charged with trespassing and ejected.
