Just when everyone believed it was time to say goodbye to the Oakland Raiders and hello to the Las Vegas Raiders, a few developments have arisen.

Word coming out of Oakland is that a deal that was believed to have been dead may be back on the table. If it really is that prior deal, it’s the one we wrote about a while back, and entails Ronnie Lott and a group of investors who are willing to buy the land of the O.co Coliseum.

It appears that Raiders owner Mark Davis prefers a move to Las Vegas, while the NFL would rather the team stay in Oakland, or at the very least the state of California.

According to reports, the deal that was once thought dead is nearly complete:

Lott spoke exclusively with ABC7 News on his group’s effort last month. Sources say a vote could come as early as Tuesday. The city council did not take up the issue in closed session Monday.

After all, Lott’s group would own the current stadium and have rights to negotiate a deal with the Raiders for a new stadium itself. It could be the break needed to keep the team in Oakland, but will Davis be open to listening?

Stay tuned, as the Raiders are getting really interesting both on and off the field.
