Tom Brady isn’t taking the bait regarding Donald Trump’s presidency.
Speaking in advance of this week’s Super Bowl matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, Brady was asked about recent news events, such as President Trump’s Middle East immigration ban. Instead of giving a thoughtful, honest answer, Brady pled the fifth, claiming he doesn’t pay attention to the news.

Brady is a Trump supporter and friend of the President. Trump mentioned Brady multiple times on the campaign trail and post-election. Brady, in turn, kept a “Make American Great Again,” hat in his locker room stall. Why doesn’t Brady just admit he loves the POTUS? He doesn’t want to make it a big deal, but given all that has happened in the past week, hearing Brady’s thoughts would be interesting. He’s supported Trump thus far. Does he still?
The Patriots’ quarterback’s refusal to speak up on protests and issues across the United States makes him seem uninformed, privileged and loyal-to-a-fault. Brady can answer the question without throwing his buddy Trump under the bus. Instead, he played dumb and, well, comes across dumb.
Remaining apolitical is in Brady’s nature. But, with Trump, his friend, making headlines for the wrong reasons, it would be nice to see what Brady actually thought on the matters. Oh well. Brady’s positively clueless, apparently.
