The St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks are going retro for their upcoming Winter Classic matchup.

The Blues will wear throwback jerseys from their inaugural season in 1967-68 during an outdoor game at Busch Stadium against the Chicago Blackhawks on January 2.

The team unveiled the new-old look on Wednesday and it’s simple, yet tremendous.

“We are excited to unveil our jerseys for the 2017 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic,” said Blues chairman Tom Stillman. “In celebration of our 50th anniversary, we are proud to pay tribute to our original uniforms and the franchise pioneers who first wore them in 1967.”

There’s something that’s just right about the jerseys. The classic blue and gold look is eye-popping. In an NHL season where it seems we’re getting an infinite amount of outdoor games, the Blues did the likes of Glen Hall, Lynn Patrick, and Scotty Bowman proud with the look.

The Blues organization should adopt the look full-time and get rid of the multi-colored, black, blue, and yellow look they have now.

The Blackhawks, meanwhile, will wear throwback jerseys inspired by the 1950s and 1960s. They’re quite similar to the threads worn in 2015, but are still pretty dope.

The old jerseys are simply perfect. Hopefully, positive fan reaction will encourage the organization to revive the look for more than one game.
