Even though the Philadelphia Eagles fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, it was obvious to anyone watching Sunday night’s showdown that Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts had an incredible performance. And even though Patrick Mahomes was the quarterback that ultimately won the game and was named Super Bowl MVP, he thinks Hurts should have earned plenty of respect for that performance.

Following the game, Patrick Mahomes had a bold message for Jalen Hurts after his prolific performance, saying that he silenced any doubters.

“If there were any doubters left there shouldn’t be now,” Mahomes said according to Pro Football Talk. “The way he stepped on this stage, and ran, threw the ball, whatever it took for his team to win. I mean, that was a special performance. I don’t want it to get lost in the loss that they had. I mean, even whenever we got all the momentum in that game, and we went up eight points in the fourth quarter, for him to respond and move his team down the football field and run in himself in a two-point conversion, it was a special performance by him and I mean, you make sure you appreciate that when you look back on this game.”

Hurts completed more than 70 percent of his passes in the game for 304 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed 70 yards and three touchdowns and was his team’s top performer even despite a crucial fumble.

Hurts has faced plenty of criticism this year with Micah Parson even suggesting he was carried by his teammates. But it’s safe to say that performance silenced a lot of doubters.
