There have been plenty of rumors surrounding who will be the next coach of the Auburn Tigers and one name that is clearly on top of many people’s lists is Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders.
Auburn University alum and Inside the NBA host Charles Barkley recently told WJOX’s “The Next Round” he would love to see Sanders down on the Plains but he believes another SEC school has the inside track on Sanders.
“What I am telling you is, I think there’s gonna be a shocker firing in the SEC,” said Barkley. “I know for a fact they’re probably going to go after Deion. I know that for a fact.”

Barkley didn’t come straight out and say Texas A&M but it certainly sounded like he was speaking about them and Jimbo Fisher. Many college football experts have speculated that A&M wouldn’t fire Fisher because of his $86 million buyout, but Barkley sounds like he knows something the rest of us don’t.
Sanders was reportedly up for the Arkansas job and had almost gotten it if it wasn’t for his lack of experience. He’s also been rumored for the Nebraska job.
Sanders has been very successful at Jackson State in two seasons, but if Barkley is right, and Texas A&M fires Fisher and ends up hiring Prime Time, that might indeed be the biggest upset of the college football season.
