After losing 48-7 to Georgia Saturday, South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer was not in a good mood during his post-game media conference.

That led to the following memorable exchange with a local reporter.

“Did you sense any give up in the locker-room?” the reporter asked.

“Hell no,” Beamer bristled in response, shaking his head. “What kind of question is that, Phil?

“We’re 1-2, we’ve got a bunch of fighters in that room and uh, give up, that’s not a part of this football program. Get out of here, man.”

The Gamecocks aren’t the first team to look bad against the defending national champion Bulldogs, who will hang onto their No. 1 ranking in the AP Top 25 following the victory. Georgia racked up 547 yards en route to the victory.

In only his second year as a head coach, Beamer — the son of legendary Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer — has already earned a reputation as a colorful character. Witness his Twitter video in July, when he lip-synched to “Turn My Swag On” by Soulja Boy.

Beamer and the Gamecocks posted a 7-6 record last season and capped it off with a victory in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, but the brutal SEC is unforgiving.
