For anyone that’s paid attention to golf over the last few months and years, it’s clear that the establishment of the Saudi-backed LIV Golf has caused quite a rift in the golf world. And you can add Fred Couples to the list of golf legends who aren’t exactly fond of the new league.

During a speech at the PGA Tour Champions breakfast that kicked off Hoag Classic week in Newport Beach, Fred Couples took aim at LIV Golf multiple times.

Couples claims that he does not have a problem with the Saudi-backed tour or the players taking a massive paycheck to join the league. But he does take exception to some of the comments that defectors have made about the PGA Tour.

“I don’t have a problem with LIV,” Couples said according to the Orange County Register. “What my problem has been when I tweet every now and then, is what these guys say when they go to the LIV Tour.”

“Just go to the LIV Tour, but stop blasting something I’ve been a part of for 42 years,” said Couples, a 15-time PGA Tour winner (including the 1992 Masters), 14-time Champions Tour winner and three-time Presidents’ Cup captain. “That’s my problem (with LIV players). They’re all bashing the PGA Tour, and that affects me a little bit.”

Couples also claims that he’s attempted to watch a LIV Golf broadcast multiple times, but couldn’t get through it because it was “so bad.”

“It was on the CW a couple weeks ago, or whatever that channel everybody is laughing about,” Couples said. “I turned it on three times. It was so bad, I couldn’t even watch anyone that I liked. They don’t show ’em. … Who won the last one? I don’t even know.”

He certainly made his thoughts very clear.
