After having a pretty solid debut as the new starting quarterback at Nebraska in a season-opening loss to Northwestern, Cornhusker quarterback Casey Thompson has asked the media to do one thing: not bring up his old school, the Texas Longhorns.

Thompson started some games for the Longhorns last year and put up decent numbers, but he no longer wants to be asked questions about his former school now that he’s transferred and plays for the Huskers.

“I’m very close to those over at Texas and I wish those guys best of luck this season,” Thompson explained to reporters Tuesday. “I’m still close to a lot of the players… I respect them, but moving forward I don’t really want to be asked questions about Texas because I’m focused on Nebraska and moving forward with this team.”

Thompson was asked last week by reporters about the difference between the different skill positions at both schools but said he didn’t want to “stir the pot.”

It may have been a shock to many that Thompson left Austin for Lincoln, but he wanted to play. He had a better shot at being the starter at Nebraska than at Texas. But now that he is in Lincoln he is not looking back on his decision to move on.

Thompson received a lot of support from fans for his request.

But not all fans were supportive of the young QB.

Wherever you stand, you have to admire the young quarterback for taking a stand.
