Bailey Zappe

Monday night might have been a bad night for the New England Patriots as a team, as they fell to the Chicago Bears by a lopsided score of 33-14, but it was a pretty good night for Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe, who replaced starting quarterback Mac Jones midway through the game. But his highlight of the game might have come on the sidelines, not on the field.

With Jones and the Patriots offense struggling on Monday night, head coach Bill Belichick decided to give Bailey Zappe a chance to run the offense after he led the team to back-to-back wins the past two weeks.

The move immediately paid off as the Zappe-led Patriots offense scored touchdowns on back-to-back drives to take a 14-10 lead over the Chicago Bears in the second quarter. Zappe looked so calm and confident that when he went back to the sideline after his second touchdown drive, he couldn’t help but sing the Fountain of Wayne song “Stacy’s Mom” to himself as it played over the stadium sound system.

“Not Bailey Zappe casually singing along to “Stacy’s Mom” after hopping off the bench to lead back-to-back touchdown drives,” Jeff Lemieux said in a Tweet sharing the video on Twitter.

It was a hilarious moment, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it, with plenty of people making Zach Wilson jokes.

The bad news for Zappe is that the Bears scored 22 unanswered points after this moment.
