The Denver Broncos put a lot of effort into seeing if Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh might be the right person to take over as their head coach. But now that Harbaugh is sticking with the Wolverines (for at least one more year) they’re shifting focus to the other candidates they’re scheduled to speak with this week.

Even though Harbaugh spent two hours with the Denver Broncos organization last week, for one reason or another, they didn’t come to an arrangement. And whether he missed his shot or he was simply angling for more money from Michigan, he’ll return to try and take UM to the College Football Playoff for the third consecutive year.

The Broncos, who fired first-year head coach Nathaniel Hackett a few weeks back, will now turn their attention toward four candidates they have scheduled chats with this week.

According to The Athletic’s Nick Kosmider, they include former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton, Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, and San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans.

While Payton would be considered the frontrunner, he also doesn’t come cheap and will require giving up a valuable draft pick to the Saints as compensation.
