When the New York Giants took a loss in the NFC Wild Card playoffs against the Green Bay Packers, a 24-hour trip to Miami for a boating excursion became a hot topic in the aftermath of the playoff exit.

That boating expedition was not the reason the Giants lost to the Packers, Victor Cruz now says, but the whole trip may not have been worth it.

“It definitely wasn’t worth it,” Cruz said on a podcast. “At the end of the day, you want to put your mind in a place where you want to success at wherever your next task is, especially in a football setting.”

That said, Cruz went on to suggest that players that do the right things off the field and on still deserve the opportunity to kick back and relax in style when given the opportunity. And then he took a shot at the media looking for reasons for the defeat.

“The game didn’t turn out the way we wanted. It had nothing to do with Miami,” Cruz said. “When you lose, [the New York media] going to find those things to pinpoint and blame.”

There were plenty of reason for the Giants’ loss to the Packers, which we previously broke down in some more detail. For starters, giving up a 63-yard Hail Mary at the end of the first half didn’t help.
