In the middle of December, Arizona Cardinals star quarterback Kyler Murray suffered a torn ACL that was obviously going to require surgery and quite an extensive recovery. But it looks like that recovery time could be a little sooner than previously anticipated.

It’s long been expected that Kyler Murray would not be able to return from his injury until toward the middle of the season. But this week, Arizona Cardinals team owner Michael Bidwill discussed Murray’s recovery and revealed that Murray could be ready more toward the beginning of the season.

“I think [his return] is going to be earlier than this midseason, so hopefully it’s toward the beginning of the season, but I don’t want to put any specific dates,” Bidwill said on Wednesday according to Darren Urban of the Arizona Cardinals team website. “There could be setbacks, the progress could slow. But he’s a young man, it looks like he is a fast healer, things are going well. Let’s hope that keeps going the way it is.”

It’s a massive update on one of the league’s top stars, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on Twitter on Thursday afternoon.

We’ll have to see how soon Murray returns and how he performs after his recovery.
