The NFL world was shocked when reports came out on Thursday that the Green Bay Packers were trading star receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders for a first and second-round pick in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft.
Adams had been franchise tagged by the Packers even though he previously said that he did not want to play while being tagged. The team was working on negotiations on a long-term deal, but things seemingly had not worked out in negotiations.
On Friday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport brought some more clarity to the situation as he said that the Packers reportedly had offered a contract to Adams that was higher than the contract he will be getting with the Raiders.
Rapoport added that the relationship between Adams and the Packers became strained due to the team initially tagging him as well as the stalemate that occurred this offseason due to the impending decision of Aaron Rodgers.

This has certainly gotten the NFL world talking, with many criticizing the Packers organization for not paying Adams initially and letting the situation get to this point.
Rap basically saying it was both. Relationship got bad and he wanted to play for the Raiders. https://t.co/qnDrNvtbVe

"If the same offer was made 7 months ago, Davante is probably still on the Packers" https://t.co/CsSoBj639F

Regardless, Adams will be joining former Fresno State teammate Derek Carr on the Raiders, who have certainly made a number of moves this offseason to keep up with the ever-improving AFC West division.
But to Packers fans, you have had to think that the organization could have done something that could have prevented the relationship to get to this point.
