Seeing is important for any professional athlete, especially an NFL defensive back who must be able to find the ball in the air after it’s thrown by the quarterback. However, Baltimore Ravens safety Tony Jefferson apparently wasn’t worried about that.
Jefferson shared a wild and perplexing truth on Wednesday night, revealing that he’s gone several years without wearing his glasses or using any other form of corrective vision. He called the decision “the dumbest thing I’ve done,” pointing out that he can see much better with glasses – which should be obvious.

“I can’t even lie – I stopped wearing my glasses years ago and that might’ve been the dumbest thing I’ve done,” Jefferson Tweeted. “I can see so much clearer and further with my glasses. It’s wild.”
While Jefferson does not reveal exactly how many years he’s gone without wearing his glasses, this revelation means he’s certainly played NFL games with poor vision.
Naturally, after such a stunning admission, the NFL world had plenty to say about Jefferson and his vision at the Raven’s safety’s expense.

Tony Jefferson has played safety in the NFL for 8 years, and has a total of 4 interceptions. That may be in part because he's been playing this whole time without being able to see anything clearly. https://t.co/bxrIQcZWW2

his hearing and sense of smell have to be 99 on Madden though. If he puts contacts in it’s over for everyone. https://t.co/JZgkgDILj4

As many pointed out, it will be interesting to see if Jefferson’s play improves now that everyone knows he’ll be wearing his glasses and can see better.
