Former Georgia Bulldogs football star Herschel Walker is currently trying to become a United States Senator and his new ad offers a strong endorsement from another Georgia football legend.
Vince Dooley was the head coach of the Georgia Bulldogs from 1964 to 1988. In that time he won six SEC championships and one the 1980 National Championship, a team that Walker was part of as well. Now, Dooley is supporting his former player by appearing in a campaign ad for his former running back.

The 90-year-old Dooley recently recovered from a “mild case” of COVID-19, which saw him enter the hospital.
“I’m grateful for all the cards, text messages, emails, and calls as well as the prayers and concerns,” Dooley said in a statement released by Georgia after his hospital stay. “But I’m ready to go Saturday with my regular book signing session at the UGA Bookstore and certainly the homecoming game.”
The former head coach’s word means something in the state of Georgia, especially among Bulldogs alums (but not all of them). Dooley was 201-77-10 in his 25 years as head coach of the Bulldogs. He also served as athletic director for the school until 2004.
Walker’s campaign has been beset by various issues and controversies related to his character, the lies he’s told, and mind-boggling comments about how the world works.
Walker is locked in a tight race with current U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock. The election will be decided on November 8.
