Herschel Walker, the Republican Senate candidate in Georgia, suffered a devastating loss in the special runoff election to incumbent Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock.

The campaign between Walker and Warnock, which featured cameos from former presidents Donald Trump and Barack Obama, as well as current president Joe Biden, was the most brutal election of the 2022 midterm cycle.

Many political observers have wondered if this would be the end of Walker’s political career.

Florida Senator Rick Scott, a leading legislative Republican, offered insight following Walker’s loss, saying he will continue to be a party leader.

“Over the last year, I’ve gotten to know Herschel and have seen first-hand the movement he built in his home state,” Scott said in a statement. “Herschel’s story and message inspired millions in Georgia and across the country. While Herschel came up short … I know he will continue to be a leader in our party for years to come.”

Walker himself has not publicly commented on his future since conceding the election on Dec. 6th, hours after the polls closed. Walker weathered several scandals through his campaign and could be investigated for his claiming of a $1,500 tax credit on his $3 million home outside Dallas, Texas, meant only for primary residences.
