Herschel Walker US Senate candidate Herschel Walker speaks during a campaign stop on Wednesday November 2, 2022 in Richmond Hill, Georgia.

Despite a hotly-contested and very narrow race, former Georgia Bulldogs running back Herschel Walker was unable to win his Georgia Senate election. And while he doesn’t seem to know what went wrong with his campaign, a prominent aid to former United States President Donald Trump seems to know who to blame: Republican senators.

In an interview with Fox News, White House senior counselor Kellyanne Conway absolutely blasted the 49 Republican senators for not doing more to support Herschel Walker in his campaign against incumbent Raphael Warnock.

“People are saying, ‘We need a new message.’ Let me just say something respectfully to the 49 Republican senators: Where were most of you? Why weren’t you in Georgia?” Conway asked during an appearance on Fox News, according to Business Insider.

Though Walker did have some powerful allies like Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and Trump, Conway said that he should have had support from every GOP Senator.

“A few of them were, but they all should have been, because they should have been there in some form, town hall, in person,” Conway said. “Where were the other senators to say, ‘I want Herschel Walker, not Raphael Warnock in the Senate with me?'”

In addition to those who simply did not support Walker enough, there were a number of prominent Republicans who staunchly opposed Herschel Walker with Chris Christie absolutely blasting the former running back and one prominent Georgia Republican calling him “one of the worst candidates in our party’s history.”
