It’s tough enough to get in and compete at WrestleMania, it’s even tougher to win a match at The Showcase of the Immortals. In the first 35 WrestleMania’s, 199 people have competed in at least one match and have never won. That’s nearly half of the total number of participants and way more than the 62 who have been undefeated. That puts The Undertaker’s 21-0 streak into even more perspective just how massive that was.

The people who have never won at WrestleMania are a who’s who throughout pro wrestling history. Many top stars and legends have never experienced winning at WrestleMania. While the event has now resulted in trying to get everybody in the company somewhere on the card, winning is still exclusive to a select few each year. These are some of the 199 total participants who have never won at WrestleMania.

0-7 – Goldust

Currently going by his real name in AEW, Dustin Rhodes holds the distinction for having the most losses at WrestleMania without winning. He had a long career in WWE as Goldust but Dustin just never could win at WrestleMania. Goldust’s first event was in the memorable Hollywood Backlot Brawl against Roddy Piper at WrestleMania XII. From there, Goldust competed in and lost in the next three WrestleMania’s including to a pre-Game Hunter Hearst Helmsley at WrestleMania 13. After spending a few years in WCW, Goldust came back to compete for the Hardcore Title at WrestleMania X8.

It took another 12 years before Goldust got another chance but after competing in battle royals at WrestleMania’s XXX and 32 respectively, he didn’t really have a chance to win. Goldust has a unique history in WWE and despite his unfortunate winless run, he’ll always be a legend in the industry.

0-5 – R-Truth

The *checks title history* current 24/7 Champion, R-Truth is tops among active performers in WWE. Despite making his WWE debut in 2000, R-Truth didn’t make his WrestleMania debut until 2010 when he teamed up with John Morrison in the WrestleMania XXVI opener. Two years later, R-Truth was on the losing end of a 12-man tag match.

Then at WrestleMania XXX, R-Truth began three straight years of losing. In between two losing efforts at the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal was a ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 31. R-Truth is a reliable and entertaining performer and even though he’s 48, he seems like he can wrestle for at least another decade. Hopefully, if he’s able to get away from being battle royal fodder and into an actual program, R-Truth is able to get on the main show and maybe get a win

0-4

Active: Big E, Natalya

Not in WWE or inactive: Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley), Crush, Dino Bravo, Finlay, MVP, Mr. McMahon, The Godfather

Unfortunately, Natalya won’t be able to try and get her first win but Big E has a shot to get off this list. Kofi Kingston may have a couple wins at The Grandest Stage but his New Day teammates haven’t been so lucky. This year, Big E is in a triple threat ladder match against The Miz & John Morrison and The Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship and he’ll have a chance to get that elusive first win.

Because it seemed like Edge and Christian won all those ladder and TLC matches in the Attitude Era, the Hardy Boyz and Dudley Boyz had been on the losing end of many WrestleMania matches. While the Hardyz eventually won, the Dudleyz weren’t able to. Another interesting name on this list is Mr. McMahon. Not competing until the street fight against his son Shane at WrestleMania X-Seven, Mr. McMahon lost to his son, Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, and Bret Hart. Say what you want about the CEO of the company but he didn’t put himself over at the event that made him and his company.

0-3

Active: Bray Wyatt, Heath Slater, Sasha Banks

Not in WWE or inactive: B. Brian Blair, Bart Gunn, Brie Bella, D’Lo Brown, Eve Torres, Jim Brunzell, Jimmy Snuka, Koko B. Ware, Ray Rougeau, Savio Vega

Two of the three active superstars who are 0-3 are in matches this weekend and they both are in rather prominent storylines. Sasha Banks’ friend Bayley is the SmackDown Women’s Champion but Banks is in a five-way match for that title. Will she work to keep the title with Bayley or will she breakout and get that for herself?

The Fiend Bray Wyatt has cooled off a bit after that match with Goldberg but he’s still one of the most popular characters in wrestling. Even under his “Wyatt Family” gimmick, Bray went 0-3 but he’ll try to avenge one of those losses in a WrestleMania XXX rematch against John Cena. Given the limitations of the empty arena this year, the Wyatt/Cena match is going to be more experimental as it’s in the Firefly Fun House. Credit to WWE for trying something different and making the best of an unfortunate situation.

0-2

Active: Alexa Bliss, Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakamura, Tamina, Xavier Woods

Notable people not in WWE or inactive: Al Snow, Barry Windham, Big John Studd, Bob Backlund, Carlito, Gail Kim, George “The Animal” Steele, Ken Shamrock, Leilani Kai, Molly Holly, Sycho Sid, Sin Cara, Steve Blackman, Umaga, Val Venis, Wade Barrett, William Regal, X-Pac

Shinsuke Nakamura is probably the most surprising name among this group of stars. The multi-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion came into WWE looking to make an impact and he had done that to a point, winning the 2018 Royal Rumble. But after he lost to AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 34, Nakamura hasn’t touched the main event scene since. Instead of competing this year, Nakamura is likely going to be at ringside for Sami Zayn, who’s also 0-2, as he defends the Intercontinental Championship against Daniel Bryan.

0-1

Active: Aleister Black, Asuka, Bo Dallas, Robert Roode, Carmella, Curtis Axel, Ricochet, Stephanie McMahon, Titus O’Neil, The OC (Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows), Tyler Breeze

Notable people not in WWE or inactive: Big Cass, Billy Kidman, Brother Love, Bruno Sammartino, Chris Masters, Crash Holly (won Hardcore Title at WrestleMania 2000), Dean Malenko, Emma, Enzo Amore, Eva Marie, Ivory, Jerry Lawler, Jim Cornette, Ken Patera, Lita, Mean Street Posse (Joey Abs, Pete Gas, and Rodney/won Hardcore Title at WrestleMania 2000), Paul Orndorff, Raven, Rhyno, Rock and Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson), Ryback, Shaquille O’Neal, Sherri Martel, Sting, Tony Atlas, Tugboat, Tyson Kidd

The only two active superstars who have an opportunity to get off the list this year is Aleister Black and Asuka. Aleister Black is going against Bobby Lashley in a match that realistically sounds like it could be on the preshow (and thus will not count), while Asuka is defending the Women’s Tag Team Championship with Kairi Sane against fellow winless superstar Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross.

(Note: Zack Ryder was originally on the winless list but he won the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania 32.
