TikTok Golf Stunt Credit: Katie Sigmond Snapchat

A well-known TikToker received a fine after a golf stunt at the Grand Canyon went miserably wrong.

TikTok star Katie Sigmond had a golf stunt go poorly wrong over a month ago. Sigmond, who has 6.9 million followers on her TikTok page, took aim at a golf shot from one side of the Grand Canyon in Arizona. She hit the ball just fine… it just went into the canyon. And so did her club.

At the time, the people at the Grand Canyon National Park were not happy. Federal officials charged Sigmond with multiple misdemeanors and issued her a fine.

USA TODAY‘s KiMi Robinson wrote, “Sigmond received three federal violation notices … and was charged with three Class B misdemeanors as detailed under Title 36 in the Code of Federal Regulations. The three charges were for tossing items into the Grand Canyon, littering, and creating hazardous conditions with disorderly conduct. She was only cited for disorderly conduct and tossing or throwing items into the canyon.”

While the violations carried stiff penalties, Sigmond avoided anything in excess. According to the report, Sigmond immediately was ordered to pay a fine of $285. And additionally, the case ended with no convictions. Robinson reported, “Her case was resolved through a collateral forfeiture agreement with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Arizona.”

The lesson of the day: Never try to hit a golf ball into the canyon. You surely won’t get it across, and you’ll wind up paying legal fees.
