Dugout Digest – end of the year

Well everyone, this is it. We're in the final hours of 2012, and it was a fantastic year to be a baseball fan. There were a lot of things we liked about this year and there were some amazing walkoff wins. Today, we're going to bring you the top defensive plays of 2012, TOC's top ten posts of 2012, and potentially another piece related to the 2012 season along with our usual batch of great content.

To close out a slow week last week between Christmas and New Years, we brought you a look back at the career of the now-retired former Yankee Hideki Matsui, and also discovered that the Texas Department of Transportation thinks that new Diamondbacks starter Brandon McCarthy is a woman. Well then.

There will be a DD on the usual Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule this week, and that schedule will run until at least pitchers and catchers report in mid-February, and potentially until the beginning of the season. We'll see.

Happy new year, everyone.
