There’s been a lot of discussion of Davante Adams’ future recently. The Las Vegas Raiders’ star receiver is under contract with them through the 2026 season after signing a five-year free agent deal with them last year, but he’s made a number of headlines for his comments about not getting enough targets and for his sideline helmet slam during their 26-14 loss to the Detroit Lions Monday.

That’s all led to a lot of speculation that Adams could be traded ahead of the league trade deadline Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET. But the Raiders downplayed that idea last week, despite their 3-5 record so far. And “a person close to the situation” dumped very specific cold water on those chances in comments to ESPN’s Adam Schefter (who also minimized the chances of this last week) Tuesday:

“I made a couple of calls in advance, and the response that I got back to any potential Davante Adams trade by the four o’clock Eastern deadline today was, quote, ‘Not a chance in hell.’ So there’s your answer, ‘Not a chance in hell,’ not going to happen. He’s not going to be dealt by the 4 o’clock deadline today despite the fact that everybody sees what’s going on there, everybody sees how frustrated he is, everybody sees how disappointed they are, and everybody knows, yeah, he would fit with a lot of teams. A lot of teams could use Davante Adams right now by the four o’clock deadline. But that trade is not going to happen.”

So it looks like Adams will be staying with the Raiders, at least for now.
