Duke star freshman Zion Williamson returned to action on Thursday night after a three-week absence due to a knee injury suffered when his shoe fell apart. And it didn’t take long for Williamson to dominate- he scored 21 points (9-of-9 on field goals), pulled down nine rebounds, and had five steals in the first half.

However, Williamson was lucky to not suffer another injury on a dirty play from Syracuse senior guard Frank Howard.

After Williamson threw down a dunk and turned around to run back for defense, Howard stuck out his foot in an attempt to trip Williamson.

Here’s video of the play live:

And here are replays putting the moment into focus, with ESPN broadcaster Jay Bilas saying Howard “clearly tried to trip” Williamson.

That’s certainly not a good look for Howard. He should consider himself lucky that Williamson — who’s a lock to be the top pick in the 2019 NBA Draft if healthy — wasn’t injured on the play.
