All signs point to Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers starting this Sunday against the Chicago Bears. However, Rodgers’ 2022 NFL season and last week’s injury have put a renewed focus on the future of the franchise and quarterback Jordan Love. While Rodgers continues to focus on playing and being the face of the franchise, he also has some honest thoughts on his backup and a potential replacement one day.

Love stepped in for Rodgers last Sunday when the starter left for the locker room to deal with a rib injury. The backup immediately made an impact and ended up putting together a strong performance in a tough loss.

Rodgers made his usual weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday where he discussed how he feels about Love and how his backup performed.

“It was really nice to watch,” said Rodgers. “I feel like an older brother watching him do well. I care about the kid a lot. Fun to see his growth. Fun to see him just kinda relax out there. Once you can make a few plays, it takes the anxiety out of the body. To see him make accurate throws, and do what he’s been doing has been fun to watch.”

Rodgers added that he was reminded of what it was like to be a third-year player in Love’s position and he appreciates what he sees from the QB in practice.

“Big respect to him,” Rodgers added. “Obviously I think [QB coach] Tom Clements deserved some amount of credit because he’s such a guru and teaching the fundamentals. But happy for J to go out there in a primetime game and have success.”
