If Colin Kaepernick does sign with the Las Vegas Raiders, he’ll be sharing a quarterback room with starter Derek Carr. So, given Kaepernick’s workout with the Raiders, it’s fair to wonder, what does Carr think about having Kaepernick as a teammate? He seems on board.

When asked was asked about how he thought Kaepernick would fit into the Las Vegas locker room, Carr expressed optimism about how Kaepernick would get along with the Raiders, as well as Carr himself.

“I don’t want to speak for everybody in that kind of sense — I don’t want someone mad at me for saying, ‘I think it would be great,’ — but I know him and I would get along great,” Carr said, per Paul Gutierrez, ESPN. “I know we have in the past, and I think we would again. I think for the most part, I think he’d get along great with our guys.”

Carr’s comments were generally met with positivity.

Las Vegas coach Josh McDaniels has been reluctant to discuss the specifics of Kaepernick’s workout. One area where McDaniels was very clear was making sure that Carr knew that, one way or another, the Raiders were still his team.

That definitely helps contribute to Carr’s positive words about Kaepernick. Regardless of what one feels about Kaepernick, this much is undeniable — if he does sign, a whirlwind of attention is coming towards his team. If he’s signed to be the starter, that’s not such a big deal internally.

If he’s not, though, there’s going to be a lot of speculation centered around the man who’s under center. A team with a stable quarterback situation can weather that storm much easier than a team with a shaky quarterback situation.

If Carr knows that the Raiders are his team, then they fall into the former category. That bodes well for Kaepernick getting signed and also for Las Vegas to succeed if that does happen.
