Last season, we kept wondering if it was Aaron Rodgers’ last year with the Green Bay Packers. Then he signed a multi-year extension to put that to bed. However, now that the Packers are in dire straights and Rodgers seems miserable, it stands to reason that he might want out of town soon after all. And if that’s the case, Peter King has an ideal spot in mind for the NFL MVP.

While he’s been more than happy to lay all the blame at the feet of his receivers and coaches, Rodgers has been off this season. While he has 2,542 passing yards and 19 touchdowns in 11 games, he has also thrown seven interceptions on the year, which is almost as many as he’s thrown in the previous two years combined. Given his growing dissatisfaction with things, coupled with the notion that he might finally be on the decline, it’s entirely possible things end in a hurry in Green Bay much they did for his predecessor Brett Favre.

If so, NBC Sports’ Peter King has a scenario worked out in his mind to help everyone move forward. King thinks that if Rodgers isn’t willing to come in early for voluntary practices next season, that lack of desire might inspire them to consider their options, especially if they give Jordan Love some reps late in the year if the playoffs get out of reach.

He also floats a possibility of trading Rodgers to the Las Vegas Raiders for Derek Carr.

“I think it might not be altogether nonsensical to consider trading Rodgers to Las Vegas for Derek Carr and a third-round pick,” wrote King, “Might being the most important word there. Miles to go before you reach a decision like that, but it has crossed my mind.”

King makes it clear this is just his own conjecture and not anything based on rumors or insider knowledge. The odds of the Packers ever trading Rodgers are slim unless he demands it. And even then, they’re going to want a ransom for the two-time defending MVP.

It would be funny if Rodgers got traded to Vegas and got reunited with Davonte Adams after all of the last off-season drama, though.
