Davis spent last year with the Atlanta Falcons, who seemed to have put more focus on their other running back, Cordarrelle Patterson. The team released him just last week.
Davis ran for 503 yards and three touchdowns last year.
Davis, 29, is originally from Georgia and played football for the South Carolina Gamecocks where he was a second-team All-SEC running back in 2013. That season, he rushed for over 1,000 yards and 11 touchdowns. Coming out of college, the running back was selected in the 4th round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. He also spent a few years with the Seattle Seahawks.
Davis’ best season might have been in 2020 for the Panthers when he had to come in and replace an injured Christian McCaffery. That season, he rushed for over 1,000 yards and 8 touchdowns.
Last season, the Ravens suffered a boat-load of injuries to their running backs, losing JK Dobbins, Gus Edwards, and Justice Hill.
With the signing of Mike Davis and the drafting of Tyler Badie, Ravens created plenty of insurance in the running backs room w/o spending too much money. This will allow JK Dobbins and Gus Edwards to take things nice and slow through training camp as they continue their rehabs.

Things were so bad for the team at that position, they had to turn to Devonta Freeman, Latavius Murray, and Le’Veon Bell for help.
Ravens don't want to be caught in same position as last yr when their RB depth was exhausted before Wk 1. Pending signing of Mike Davis more a reflection of them wanting to build as much depth as possible and making sure they're covered with 3 backs coming off major injuries.

Davis brings a wealth of experience to the team and durability, which the Ravens desperately need.
