The Baltimore Ravens announced Tuesday that they have signed veteran running back Mike Davis to a one-year contract.

Davis spent last year with the Atlanta Falcons, who seemed to have put more focus on their other running back, Cordarrelle Patterson. The team released him just last week.

Davis ran for 503 yards and three touchdowns last year.

Davis, 29, is originally from Georgia and played football for the South Carolina Gamecocks where he was a second-team All-SEC running back in 2013. That season, he rushed for over 1,000 yards and 11 touchdowns. Coming out of college, the running back was selected in the 4th round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. He also spent a few years with the Seattle Seahawks.

Davis’ best season might have been in 2020 for the Panthers when he had to come in and replace an injured Christian McCaffery. That season, he rushed for over 1,000 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Last season, the Ravens suffered a boat-load of injuries to their running backs, losing JK Dobbins, Gus Edwards, and Justice Hill.

Things were so bad for the team at that position, they had to turn to Devonta Freeman, Latavius Murray, and Le’Veon Bell for help.

Davis brings a wealth of experience to the team and durability, which the Ravens desperately need.
