Australia will reportedly overturn Novak Djokovic’s visa ban.

The country issued a three-year ban to the tennis star earlier this year in January. Novak earned the ban and deportation from Australia in January. The country deemed him a public health risk because of his anti-vaccine views and lack of vaccination against COVID-19.

Per CNN, “Australia will overturn a three-year ban on tennis player Novak Djokovic entering the country, paving the way for the former world No. 1 to contest the 2023 Australian Open. Australia’s Immigration Minister Andrew Giles will repeal the ban.”

The decision to ban Novak from Australia didn’t come lightly at the time. But after flagrantly averting rules and making demands, the country felt they had no choice. The tennis star looked like he would be engaged in an uphill battle in trying to play in the Australian Open. He even couldn’t enter the U.S., a decision which didn’t go unnoticed. Now, that is no longer going to be the case it looks like.

When Novak takes the court in January, he will seek his 22nd grand slam. The controversial Djokovic won his 21st last July when he defeated Nick Kyrgios at Wimbledon 2022. He will also seek his 10th Australian Open title. Novak currently holds the most Australian Open singles titles with nine.
