Over the past several weeks, the New York Jets have made it very clear that they plan to sign a veteran quarterback this offseason and are willing to pay or give up whatever it takes to do so. And while there has been plenty of speculation and reports that the Jets are interested in acquiring current Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, it looks like former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr could be an option, too.
Derek Carr officially became a free agent this week when he refused to allow the Raiders to trade him. And now that he’s free to make his own free agent decision, it appears he’s visiting the New York Jets this weekend, according to a report from league insider Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.
The #Jets are bringing in free agent QB Derek Carr for a visit this weekend, sources say. It’ll be the second meeting with a team for Carr, who visited the #Saints prior to his release by the #Raiders.

It’s pretty massive news for both the Jets and Carr, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.
A very interesting one. Derek Carr is high on the #Jets list. https://t.co/IjeD3E3rKR

If your response to this is one of disappointment because you’re 100% in on Rodgers you need to take a step back
You can’t put all your eggs in one basket, given Rodgers could literally say I’m not going to the Jets
This meeting is a net positive https://t.co/yb43FlXmjl

I talked about this earlier this week. This is why it’s important for the Packers/Rodgers to come to a decision asap. If Jets sign Carr because they don’t know what’s going on with 12, that’s a key team off the trade market for Rodgers. https://t.co/yUh5VoLWZX

There’s still a chance that the Jets pursue Aaron Rodgers, but his insane antics and his delayed decision might force the Jets to go in a different direction.
