The 2022 Denver Broncos season has been a nightmare and much of the blame has been laid at the feet of quarterback Russell Wilson. However, many of his teammates disagree with that sentiment.

The Broncos made a rare move of firing first-year head coach Nathaniel Hackett earlier this week, along with some members of his staff, as the team flailed to a 4-11 record. Along with Hackett’s issues as a game manager, the offense looked inept on a historical level, which is shocking considering that they traded for Wilson in order to shore up their quarterback position.

The Super Bowl-winning quarterback has looked like a shell of his former self and many have wondered if the Broncos might consider moving on from him quickly. However, team ownership is still standing behind their high-priced signal-caller. And despite the on-field in-fighting that some of them have done, many of Wilson’s teammates are stepping up to defend him as well.

“I ain’t gonna keep looking at these false statements about my boii russ man, as a teammate who sees the elite work ethic this man has is incomparable,” wrote Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy, in response to a Barstool Sports tweet about the QB’s special privileges. “He got an office because he’s committed his life to this game. I never had a teammate who motivate me more then russ.”

“Just tired of the media trynna portray sum it’s not. Got the whole world fooled,” he added in another tweet.

Jeudy wasn’t the only Denver player to publicly defend Russ.

3 goes above and beyond to do whatever it takes to win for the team. Y’all not about to bash him and act like he still ain’t that same Russ who won a Super Bowl and was a 9 time pro bowler. I stand behind my QB,” said Broncos wideout KJ Hamler

Then, the official Denver Broncos account even retweeted the players to show support for the quarterback.

While the present isn’t very positive for the Broncos, it’s clear that Russ’s teammates have his back in the hopes that things can get better.
